You’re a Pizza My Heart: Valentine’s Day Party

Pizza my heart

I love pizza, who doesn’t? Especially as someone who has been to Italy twice… pizza is like a love language for me. I experienced the good stuff, and I never want to go back to dull and flavorless pizza. Anyways, my love for pizza aside… it does have to do with today’s party idea.

Basically, the gist of the party is pizza making, heart shaped pizzas, and lots of love. Even if you just want to do this with your partner, family, or an actual party, this is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day at home.

First and foremost, we know I love a good food bar.

Why not make a pizza topping bar for all of your guests to customize their perfect pizza! My idea for the heart shaped dough if you have lots of people is to make it ahead of time for less of a mess! However, if it is just you and your s/o then maybe that would be a fun bonding, cooking experience for the both of you.

To decorate the food bar, get these cool table scatter hearts to give the lovey dovey gushy feeling. Definitely the vibe.

Next, have a drink area, and make sure to get cute little red and pink cups (available at Party Place) and little candy hearts… all the corny Valentine’s Day stuff. I love it all!

Consider making it a mix of corny Valentine’s Day and mamma mia Italia! That is definitely a cute combination and worth it! Red and white tablecloths, wine, and maybe some gelato for dessert. Amore!

If gelato isn’t your vibe, get some pizza my heart cookies like these from Creative Kitchen. They can definitely whip up some cutie cookies!

A Freakin’ Freakshake Party

Freakshake

Do you know what a freakshake is? Well, if you don’t, no need to feel bad, I didn’t know what one was until I went to Vegas a year ago and saw a whole storefront dedicated to them! Basically, it is an extreme and over the top milkshake, which is probably any kid’s dream (or adult, no judgement here!). So, what make a regular milkshake different from a freakshake are the toppings!

Candy Shake

You might simply be thinking that this would mean sprinkles or Oreo chunks, which you aren’t wrong… but dream bigger! Get more creative with things like donuts, pretzels, chocolate bars, other candy bars, full size cookies and so much more. Honestly, the possibilities are truly endless and up to your own personal preferences which makes this a fantastic party idea.

Even pancakes are a viable option! Check out this one below.

[pancakefreakshake.jpg]

pancake freakshake

I know you might think January isn’t the time to host a milkshake party, but with National Milk Day coming up on the 11th, I find a milkshake party quite endearing and lovely.

So, its simple! Get your friends together, ask everyone to bring a topping and get a whole freakshake topping bar going! Get super duper extreme these things! You don’t want it to be boring! So take those average ol’ vanilla milkshakes and maybe even chocolate if that is your crowd’s vibe. With these two basic flavors, you’ll be sure to cater to everyone’s toppings they bring.

This is a great party idea if you’re hosting a family friendly party that doesn’t include alcohol, or maybe a kid’s birthday, game night, or even just a freakshake get-together!

Be sure to check out these Plastic Mason Jar Glasses for a sturdy and classic option that will be sure to hold all the goodies inside (and they are cute) .

For straws, you’ll want something that can properly suck up the deliciousness, so get these shake straws to ensure awesomeness.

Get crazy and get creative! Check Pinterest for some recipes if you want to get super into it, but don’t be shy, just make something freaky!

Merry Grinchmas!

Merry Grinchmas

My nephew has an obsession with the Grinch movie from Illumination, which is what I would assume is this new generation’s version of the iconic Christmas character. I watched it, and it was very good and cute, but when I watched it for the 70th time with him… I was a little tired of it.

However, I never ever get tired of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey. I grew up with this movie, and it has been a staple for my sister and I to watch at least once (though probably more!) a year at Christmas. Recently, I have noticed that this specific iteration of the Grinch has become super popular again this holiday season (thanks TikTok), so, lets pay homage to the Grinch by throwing a party! Let’s throw ourselves a Grinchmas!

The great thing about this is that you can honestly tailor the party to any of the Grinch movies, so pending your favorite, you can use different things to make it known which one you’re referencing. Right now we’ll go with the classic animated film, but there is no limit!

You’ll want to start building your decorations off of the colors lime green and red. Yes, Christmas colors, but you know, lime green is very much so an important color to the Grinch! Think a little gaudy for your decorations, like big sequins, feather boas, and just lots and lots of red and green patterns. You’re trying to emulate Whoville, right? Go crazy!

I personally love this table setting below that includes all of the aforementioned criteria.

Next, think about adding in a festive hot chocolate bar for your party. It’s Christmas! Who doesn’t want to indulge in hot chocolate at this time of year?! Keep the same color and pattern vibe from the table setting and get it going. Adding things like peppermints, candy canes, whipped cream, and marshmallows to your hot chocolate bar can really make it pop at the party.

Lastly, you’ll want to consider some party games. Whether or not you do classic board and card games or find a festive game like White Elephant or Dirty Santa, it can add a ton of fun to your party. I love going to parties and having a bonding moment through a game. Perhaps you can find a way to incorporate this Grinch suit we have at The Party Place… I think it would add a whole different level of fun!

Have a great time with this Grinchmas party, and happy holidays!

Gingerbread House Decorating Party

Gingerbread House Decorating Party

One of my favorite holiday traditions when I was a kid was decorating a gingerbread house. A childhood friend of mine always hosted this super fun gingerbread house party for all of her daughter’s friends, and it was amazing! I looked forward to it every year, and I always appreciated the interesting and unique houses we would all do.

This being said, a gingerbread party is definitely something I would like to do again. I think it could be even more fun as an adult simply because it is like a stroll down memory lane. Lucky for all of the River Valley folks, The Party Place has all the materials to make this party a reality!

First and foremost, if you are looking to go an easier route and not make the gingerbread from scratch, we’ve got some great gingerbread house kits so you’re making the workload a little less intensive. Trust me, making super stable gingerbread to build a house out of… it is difficult.

Anyways, regardless of what you do, you’ll need to designate everyone’s work areas, so why not get these holly jolly placemats and name cards to make a festive table setting that can also help minimize the decorating mess.

You’ll definitely want to get some more decorating materials than what comes with the kits (if you do that) so people can have more unique houses! Some really great and inexpensive options are to get family size bags of candy—like the Christmas M&Ms—or even boxes of cereal! Trust me, Golden Grahams make excellent shingles. Other fun little candies like gum drops or even chicklets are awesome and colorful options, as well as sprinkles!

Add in a few more table decorations along with all your house décor options, and you’re golden! Put on the classic Christmas music or even a Hallmark movie, and get to decorating. Consider adding in a fun punch, cider, or even sangria to make some real holiday magic! Whether you’re throwing this party for your kid or for yourself, it’ll be a gran ol’ time, and it will make the Christmas season that much more Christmas-y.

A Spookily Cute Party!

Spooky Cute Party

Halloween is my absolute all-time favorite holiday. Seriously, it is up there with Christmas. I think the decorations are so fun, the movies are great, and dressing up? I love that! It is a wonderful holiday that is filled with so much fun! Plus, who doesn’t love a holiday with a bunch of sweets! There is so much you can do for a Halloween party that doesn’t have to be filled with horror and gore! Spooky cute is trending, and let’s just say it is calling your name for this year’s Halloween party theme.

What’s spooky cute?

This is what I call a perfect amalgamation of aesthetics. It takes the scary aspects of Halloween and other such things, and it puts a cute, harmless twist on it! I love it! This about a witch or ghost. Scary stuff! However, brighten up the colors and make it a little softer and more childlike… you’ve got a spooky cute ghost and witch.

This image below captures the aesthetic perfectly. With colors like pastel green, lavender, peach orange,  black, and silver, you can have a softer more inviting look than something with dark green, orange, and black! I love the balloon arch with the one witch balloon. It adds a specific Halloween flair without being too gaudy or scary!

We also have some napkins and plates that match this theme well found here.

Next, let’s talk about food! Anything and everything goes for a Halloween celebration. I think classic pumpkin cookies are a perfect edition to any table spread. Creative Kitchen right here in Fort Smith, AR can create a batch of pumpkin cookies that look straight picked from the patch.

Lastly, incorporating candy in a more sophisticated and theme-ready way is one way to elevate your spooky cute party! Things like test tubes with gummies or candy eyeballs can be a spooky cute vibe when done right! Again, focus on a good muted color palette that takes traditional Halloween colors and just brighten them up! It is the best way to ensure a truly fabulous Halloween party that looks trendy, aesthetic, and most importantly… spooky cute.

Stop on by Party Place for all your Halloween needs. Our balloons are perfect to incorporate the color scheme and don’t forget to look for serving utensils and plates!

Let’s Fall in Love!

Fall engagement party

Oh boy! We are coming upon my absolute favorite season of the entire year! I love autumn so so so much, and I truly look forward to this season all year. As soon as it passes, I am already looking to the next fall season! What is not to love? The weather is absolutely perfect, the scent of pumpkin spice and apples everywhere, and all the lovely decorations. Call me crazy, but even more so than pumpkin spice and harvest apple candles, there is a truly distinct fall smell that descends upon the world that is so lovely. To me, this is the perfect time for love. Forget Valentine’s Day, I want to see love stories in the fall! That’s why today we will be talking about the perfect engagement party for the fall!

(Hence the name, Let’s Fall in Love.)

Anyhow, it would be truly adorable to throw an engagement party in September-October or early November. I have already provided three possibly color palettes that really accentuate the fall aspect without going into the Halloween or even Thanksgiving regions. The last thing we want is for someone to think you’re throwing a Halloween party instead of an engagement party (unless you want that of course!).

neutral fall color palette

I envision a lovely little outdoor dinner setting either at a pumpkin patch, apple orchard, or even your own backyard. These are natural elements that I feel are essential to a really fall inspired event that is also classy.

The table below, truly epitomizes the autumn-realness I want to achieve at this engagement party. The incorporate of green leaves, branches with berries, and fall flowers is immaculate! The simply dining placement with large candle sticks also adds an element of refinement as well as adds dynamic levels to the very horizontal dining space.

Look here to view our dining and catering supplies.

Continuing on the rustic-yet-refinedfall feeling, this cake would be perfect for your engagement party. It mimics that of a small wedding cake that blends beautifully with the table. Call Creative Kitchen right here in Fort Smith to get your engagement cake today! Show them this photo, and they will do you one better!

Lastly, I love the idea of also including a warm beverage cart at your party as well. People go insane for a good cup of cider or hot cocoa in the colder months! It would be a fun addition to an alcohol cart so that everyone can get that fall feeling and even the kiddos that come can be involved as well.

Even though I am nowhere near getting married, I definitely will be keeping these ideas in the back of my mind! I would love to have an engagement party or wedding in the fall for the weather alone! However, I also have just FALLen in love with all the colors and beautiful natural elements to miss this opportunity.

Happy fall!

5 Foods to Make for a Relaxed Labor Day Celebration

Labor day celebration

Labor Day is coming up, so that means it is time to figure out how to put together a nice celebration for our friends and family. I have always preferred to do relaxed Labor Day parties because it is a day of relaxation for me. It is the last hurrah of the summer, and it is usually the perfect time to take a break since school and all other activities have started up again.

(Honestly, we should have a break every month in my opinion, but that still has yet to happen haha!)

Anyways, today we are going to get into five different foods you can easily make for whatever you end up doing for Labor Day. These will be quick and easy party foods and drinks that will surely be a major hit with all your guests.

  • Red, White, and Blue Rice Krispies Treats

I think these are so fun and festive! I love Rice Krispies anyways, so these are the perfect party food to me. These are super simple to make and just require a little food die in the marshmallow mixture to get the patriotic colors. Great grab and go option for the kiddos and adults alike.

  • Patriotic Fruit Pizza

Such a fun way to curb that sweet tooth without overloading on sugar. My sister always makes this fruit pizza for all of our patriotic celebrations, and it is always a hit! Super easy to do, and it is always a lot of fun arranging the fruit in pretty ways on top. This is a good food to have the kids help out with too so they can feel like part of the party process.

  • Festive Sangria

Honestly, I think this speaks for itself. Sangria is the perfect drink option for summer because it is so refreshing and tasty. This one uses several different types of fruit to get a full and dun summery flavor that also is quite festive! With fruits like watermelon and blueberries in this sangria, you’re sure to stay cooler out there in that last of the summer heat!

  • Stars and Stripes Popcorn

There is nothing simpler to do for a party than popcorn! You pop the corn, add a little colored white chocolate, and then some fun star sprinkles. I make this for lots of holidays (just switching up the colors and sprinkles of course), and I can say with full confidence that it is always a hit.

  • Fun Fruit Salad

Lastly, we have a fruit salad. It is simple enough, and it is a good way to get your kids to eat more than just cookies and burgers at the Labor Day cookout or party you host. This is easy, fun, healthy, and always a crowd pleaser. Who doesn’t love a bowl of fruit!

Bubble Party! No, Not that Kind of Bubble!

Boba drinking glass

Guys. Big news. Did you know that April 30th is National Bubble Tea Day?! I KNOW. Please, hold your excitement, I know it is hard! Anyways, what better way to celebrate this fun and random holiday than to throw a bubble tea party!

If you don’t know what bubble tea is, you might recall something called “boba.” It’s the same thing! So, if you hear people referring to bubble tea as boba or vice versa, just know you’re all on the same wavelength. It is a super trendy, tasty, and customizable drink that is loved all across the world. Wonder where you can get some? Here are some local places that sell boba in Fort Smith:

Smiling Cup Boba Tea

Sakuu Asian Bakery and Deli

Asian Cafe

Phở King

For your boba party, you could totally support your local businesses by getting your boba there for the event, or you could even think about asking if you could throw it there!

Another fun idea for a National Bubble Tea Day party would be to make it a boba crawl! You could print out a little checklist (like the one below) with all the places your group will go to and try all the boba! How fun!

Bubble Tea Fort Smith Arkansas Crawl List

After you’ve done the crawl, you’re gonna need a space to chill and drink all the boba you’ve now acquired. As the weather warms up, it is the perfect opportunity to have an outdoor backyard party! Let’s get to decorating.

The focal point of this boba party is obviously boba, but how do you translate that into a decoration? A boba balloon, duh!

As shown in these photos, you can make a huge cup of boba that is just so darn cute!

Bunny Brunch: An Easter Celebration!

Bunny Brunch

I think Easter has some of the cutest decorations out of all the holidays in the year. It is like the ultimate way of saying spring has sprung! The pastels! The eggs! The bunnies! The flowers! Just thinking about it makes you smile, and I mean seriously, how could you not? Bunnies are certifiably one of the cutest animals. Sorry, but it is the truth, and I only speak facts. Regardless of your opinion on a bunny’s cuteness level, we can all agree that it is time for me to talk about this Easter brunch. So, let’s get started.

When I plan a themed brunch, I love to take a more sophisticated but still cute spin on my theme. For example, i would invest in more elegant plates and napkins that still fit my theme. These Golden Easter Napkins and Golden Easter Dessert Plates are perfect options for putting a little more of an elegant flair on your Bunny Brunch but still also being very fitting for the theme. Going along with this little golden theme, these Metallic Gold Easter Eggs are perfect for table decorations like in the photo below.

Now that we have an idea for our table decor, let’s think about food (the best part).

These Hashbrown Egg Nests from Feel Good Foodie are truly calling my name. They are easy, festive, and can be made in under thirty minutes.

Now, I love savory food like hashbrowns, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I didn’t also have a sweet tooth. These Cinnamon Bun Palmiers are just the thing to satisfy my cravings, plus they are also an under thirty-minute recipe with little involvement, and you can even shape them to look like little bunny ears. You can find the recipe here on Brit + Co.

Back on the savory foods, these cornmeal biscuits are something you do not want to exclude from your Bunny Brunch. They are like the perfect combination of cornbread and a buttermilk biscuit with a bit of a spicy quick. Um, say less? I am already obsessed. They are perfectly soft with a flaky exterior, okay, my mouth is drooling, that’s all.

Alright. I am starving now, but at least now we have a good start on how to wow our crowds at this Easter Brunch.

Stop by The Party Place to get all your supplies for your Bunny Brunch or call ahead for easy shopping! The best part about it is that this is all lowkey and very easy to do, even the cooking! So, no need to feel rushed around this Easter. Just sit back, relax, and eat all the cornmeal biscuits, hashbrowns, and cinnamon buns you can!

St. Paddy’s Day in the (Home) Pub

St Patrick's Day Pub

Alright, folks. I don’t know about you, but when I think about St. Patrick’s Day, I immediately think about going to a pub. More specifically, I think about going to a pub where there is lots of beer being poured, green everything everywhere, and singing karaoke. Perhaps, I am just thinking back to past experiences or things I have seen in movies, but that truly is what I think about when it comes to this iconic and very green holiday. Therefore, we are gonna talk about how you can host your own little St. Paddy’s Day fun in your at-home pub (complete with a karaoke machine).

So, let’s get your home looking like an Irish pub! You’ll need a place to host, and you could totally do it anywhere in your house, but with the warmer weather, you could even think about making it an outdoor, patio-style pub!

The Party Place has tons of options to get that pub vibe with signs, decorating kits, and even some accessories for your guests/”customers.” Here are the top 5 decoration picks from me to decorate your pub!

  1. Metallic St. Patrick’s Day Beer and Shamrocks Banner
  2. Beer Mug Cutout Metal Hanging Sign
  3. St. Patrick’s Day Bar Decorating Kit
liquid luck
  1. St. Patrick’s Day Plastic Mini Top Hat
  2. Green and Gold St. Patrick’s Day Balloons

Next, let’s talk about food. Pub food. We all love it, you know you do. It is also a relatively easy type of food to make, especially for larger quantities so there is another plus. You do not have to worry about giving people a four-course meal, instead, think about side dishes and snacks that can be made in large quantities and still be pretty filling. For example, a pub snack mix might be one of the best options for a St. Paddy’s Day Pub Party. You can find very recipes on Pinterest and Google, but no matter which one you choose, it is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. You can find one of our favs here.

Next, consider putting out french fries, hushpuppies, fried pickles, buffalo wings, or anything else that is easy to grab and reminiscent of the days we could all just enjoy ourselves at the pub on a Saturday night. If you don’t feel up to making all the food, we suggest getting a local restaurant to make it for you. Just place an order a few days ahead, and get it going! You’ll be supporting small businesses, and who doesn’t love that?

karaoke

Lastly, let’s get to the karaoke part. There is truly nothing like a good karaoke night at a pub. I love karaoke as a social activity more than anything else, yet I never want to sing. I just like to cheer everyone else on and see how the night progresses, like whether or not the singers get better, worse, or stay the same as the night goes on. When I used to go on cruises with my family, I would drag everyone to the karaoke club every night after dinner. Still my favorite thing, and I cannot wait to do it again. Anyways, how fun would it be to dust off that old karaoke machine and get your pub truly pumping. You can sing those classics like Bohemian Rhapsody or Don’t Stop Believin’ to your heart’s desire. No one can stop you either, because it is YOUR pub! Now, go get your supplies and get ready for the most fun St. Patrick’s Day you’ve had yet!
