Spooky Season

Spooky Pumpkins

For some September first is the “official” start to the spooky season or as I like to call it Falloween — which means it is time to pack up the summer decorations and break out the pumpkins. However, maybe you aren’t ready to give up summer just yet you can still use the month of September to plan the perfect Halloween party. My little sister was known for her annual Halloween parties up until she went off to college! So, whether it is an old tradition for your family or maybe a spur of the moment decision The Party Place is going to have everything you need to make it spook-tac-ular!

Halloween is really easy to decorate for because whether you go scary or classic the decorations all begin the same — pumpkins! When decorating with pumpkins you can make them serve more than one purpose, especially when it comes to party activities. [insert pumpkin carving 2] One way to make double use out of them is to purchase one for each of your guests and dedicate a portion of your party to pumpkin carving. When you do this, you are not only checking off a way to decorate you are also giving your guests a fun party favor to take home.

Quick tip: if your party is geared towards younger children you might not want using carving kits, I suggest offering paint, stickers, glitter, etc. in place of the actual carving.

Another fun way to make your decorations interactive is to display your food with Halloween themed signs, table clothes, or other small touches. One of my favorite popcorn bars is actually the perfect tribute to the classic Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin movie — Snoopy Says Scoop and Shake Bar!

You can purchase these large black bowls, brown paper bags, and witches’ cauldron all at The Party Place while you are picking up your other decorations. The best part about the popcorn bar is that the toppings are what you choose — however, I do recommend candy corn or those little candy pumpkins just to assist with the theme.

If you are looking for a way to spruce your party up with more than the classic orange and black throw in some lime green or bright purple as well. One great way to do this is by creating a picture backdrop or accent wall with multiple paper ornaments, fans, and flowers. In order to tie in your pop of color use a classic black and white pattern.

If you browse the aisle of The Party Place you might even find some large spiders or other spooky items to use as props for your table and other sit around decorations.

Now that we have the decorations covered, as well as pumpkin carving it’s time to think about what else your guests are going to be doing at the party. I suggest a classic scavenger hunt.

The best part about a scavenger hunt is that your clue envelopes can add a little homemade and spooky touch to your decorations and it keeps your guests entertained for quite some time! Another fun idea is to host a costume contest and have your guests vote for their favorite, the spookiest, and most original — the Party Place even offers small trophies in store for you to pick up to pass out as prizes.

Fun Fact: not only can you pick up all of the decorations and party supplies for your Halloween bash you can head to The Party Place for the perfect costume as well! We hope you have a wonderful Falloween and we cannot wait to see what you decide to do to make it the best one yet! Don’t forget Halloween is on a Saturday this year, so it is the perfect excuse to host that party!
