The Leaves are Falling, Throw a Friendsgiving Party!

With the weather finally being consistently autumnal, the tree leaves are technicolor galore, and the holiday season is in full swing now is the perfect time to throw a Friendsgiving party before it becomes a winter wonderland.

Party Place has an exceptional selection of fall partyware and decorations that will make every autumnal party perfect. I love Friendsgiving. It is such a lovely opportunity to create joy and memories with your closest friends. Although Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your family and have a fantastic time, sometimes families can be stressful. It doesn’t mean it is any less fun, but sometimes we all need a Friendsgiving that does not have tons of expectations or traditions attached.

Think of Friendsgiving as a relaxed precursor to Thanksgiving.

Anyways! Let’s move on.

I want to talk about some table decorations for this Friendsgiving and those that will really make it scream autumn and nature. Super cool vibe to emulate if you ask me.

Okay, first and foremost, I want to highlight these homemade dried orange garlands. They are super simple to make, and they are showstoppers for a plentiful, natural Friendsgiving celebration. You can either hang them around your house or bundle them together for a table centerpiece. Simply cut the oranges into slices, bake at 350F for 45 minutes then thread through with a needle and string. Easy.

Next, let’s make sure the punch we serve is something that your guests simply will not stop buzzing about throughout the party and months after.

For some holiday cheer that is perfect all season around, go for an Apple Cider Sangria. This recipe should be a winner in everyone’s books.

Lastly, let’s talk about dinnerware. I have recently been loving mismatched dinnerware for dinner parties. I think it adds a certain je ne sais quoi element to the atmosphere and allows for a relaxed, yet put together aesthetic. Take a look at your local thrift stores for tons of options and unique finds.

With these ideas and all the items Party Place has to offer, this Friendsgiving will be one for the books.

The Best Ways to Spice Up your Thanksgiving Celebration

Thanksgiving is probably the most popular holiday in terms of food. I think that is pretty much the hype around the holiday nowadays, is it not? However, maybe you are just a tad tired of doing the same things, and you are looking for some ideas to spice up your dinner. If so, we have some ideas to share with you to help make your Thanksgiving celebration even better!

Even if the basis is the same—like a dinner-style type setting—that is more than okay. We just need a few more ways to add some flair and spice to the day.

  1. Forget the Charcuterie Boards and go for a Literal Cheese cake

If you love cheese, this is the way to go. Additonally, if you are not a crazy-talented charcuterie board maker like my sister, this is also something you should strongly consider.

The cheese cake is exactly what it says it is: a “cake” made entirely out of cheese.

Get three different wheels of cheeses you enjoy, stack them on top, garnish them up, and then of course get out the jams, crackers, and bread! Done. Easy. Beautiful. Fun. Different.

  • Candlelight Dinner Anyone?

I know it sounds simple, but really take the meaning of a candlelight dinner literally.

I am probably the biggest advocate for ambient lighting. I legit will not turn on the big overhead lights in my apartment unless absolutely necessary. I love the vibes that exude from candles, lamps, and other warm lights. So, let’s do Thanksgiving simply by candlelight. Spin some smooth tunes on a record player and ooh baby, that is an ideal dinner party to me. Especially for Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving? Everyone will surely think you are the coolest cat.

  • Design Some Menus for Your Guests

Again, dare I say the simplest things just change everything? If you want to serve up some elevated Thanksgiving realness? This is absolutely the way to do it. Even if you serve the exact same line up of dishes each year, I think a menu can make or break a table setting. Let’s go for broke on the tablescapes this year and make Thanksgiving a luxurious ordeal.

A Halloweentown Fun Fest

When I was a kid, I loved the movie Halloweentown. Honestly, I still love that movie and watch it every year. I think it is a Halloween classic, encapsulating the joy I felt as a kid during the Halloween season. Even today, Halloween remains my favorite holiday.

As an homage to one of my favorite spooky season movies, let’s throw a fun Halloweentown party. Make sure you wear your most festive and classic Halloween costume for this party. To me, Halloweentown is all about celebrating the old-school Halloween we all know and love.

So, let’s get started.

You need to pull out all the stops on decorations. No easy way out on this one—a Halloweentown party deserves to be over the top. Bring out all the pumpkins, skeletons, bats, and spooky galore. If you feel you are running short on anything, go ahead and come down to Party Place to get our decorations sorted out.

I also recommend an elaborate balloon arch for the party entrance to really set the tone.

I think taking this pumpkin arch as inspiration is a great way to embody the Halloweentown vibe.

For drinks and food, I would recommend paying a visit back to the movies to see what they can offer you. When you make foods and drinks that align with either the party theme or something specifically from a movie, it really adds a level of authenticity people love.

These marshmallow spiders are a great example and easy to make for all hot chocolate drinks!

(See Halloweentown High for their appearance in the franchise.)

Now for food and snacks, I will be honest, Pinterest is definitely the place to go for any kind of inspiration and how-to. There are some seriously creative people on there.

Lastly, let’s look at some more Halloween décor for the party.

As a I previously said, really try and take it over the top.

These floating candles are a wow factor and really easy to achieve the effect. I made them in college once, and they were totally a crowd-pleaser.

For the rest of the décor and the general ambience of the party, think cooky spooky. Nothing too frightening but something on the brighter side of the Halloween fun. That represents Halloweentown to me more than anything. I think the table below really shows a good mix of it all.

Now, have some fun and go crazy with it!

Come to Party Place for all your party needs.

Fall Fun and Fantastic Foliage

Now that the weather is finally starting to cool down, the leaves are starting to change, and the pumpkins are coming out, it is time for the beginning of the best time of year! What is that you might ask? Well, it is Fall of course.

There is something just so beautiful about the season. As George Eliot once said “Is not this a true autumn day? Just the still melancholy that I love—that makes life and nature harmonize.”

I think that quote just captures the autumn vibe perfectly.

Anyways, this is the perfect time of year to host some chill but festive parties before holiday madness kicks in. Now, trust me, I love a Halloween party, but I also enjoy a nice autumnal party just to get into the whole spirit of it all.

So, here are some of my favorite products from our online store I think you be perfect for any party, charcuterie night, or dinner that you want to invoke the autumnal vibe.

I know when we think of Fall we primarily think about warm jewel-toned colors like deep reds, oranges, greens, and yellows. However, hear me out and think about these Melamine Fall Checkered Chargers that come in a seafoam blue!

They pair perfectly with our Muted Autumn Fall Round Plates that are filled with that pumpkin goodness but truly stunning partyware pieces. Additionally, we have a matching table covers and napkins that can make this set complete. No need to struggle with finding things that match when you can have the perfect complimentary pieces for all of these.

Any fall shindig would be look perfectly perfect with our wide range of décor, but these plates and napkins are definitely my favorite.

Order online, browse our entire web store, or stop by in person to see all we have to offer for your party and celebration needs.

Monster Mash Bash Party

We are finally in the month of my all time favorite holiday. Yes! It is Halloween. I have loved Halloween for as long as I can remember. I have always loved to dress up, decorate with all the spooky and fun classic Halloween items, and of course, throw Halloween parties.

Some of my fondest memories of childhood are from the Halloween parties my mom would throw for me and my friends from school. She did it all the way up until I graduated high school. It was such a lovely time for me.

It is never too late to start a tradition such as that.

Even if you don’t do it annually, you should consider throwing a Halloween party this year. I find it one of the most fun types of parties to plan and attend.

So, for today’s party idea let’s throw ourselves a Monster Mash Bash!

I think any classic Halloween party theme like this is always a hit. Especially if your Bash is an adults-only party, this definitely will give them that nostalgic feel they so often desire around this time of year.

For a Monster Mash Bash, you definitely need a banging playlist. I find this type of party to be one made for blasting music and dancing your heart out. Spotify and Youtube are both great places to find ready-made playlists so that your party music slays (literally).

Now, for my parties, I always make it a requirement to wear a costume. I do not really care what the costume is or how intensely made it is, but I do care that you have one on. It is so important to be in the spirit I think.

You can set a specific set of requirements for your party or keep it open to interpretation.

Additionally, you need to make a spooky punch. Something that is fun, flavorful, and if you’re into it, has a little zing from liquor.

I find that these ghost-hand ice cubes are always a hit with guests.

Next, we need to add in the Blood Fondue—otherwise known as white chocolate with red food coloring in it! This is the perfect thing to make a spectacular treat that will sure to give people the creeps in the best way!

Lastly, we need some monster mash treats to go along with our other items. Consider getting monster-themed cookies or brownies with candy eyeballs for example to make it extra spooky.

For all your decoration needs, stop by party Place to see our extensive range of products we offer. From napkins, to props, and even Halloween costumes, we have it all.

Down… Set… Hike! Football season is here!

September means fall, football, and better weather. However, for many people in the south, football is the most important one of those three things I just listed. I know my family is obsessed with football season. To be fair, it is a great way to build community, have fun, and create traditions. Though I may not be the world’s biggest football fan, I definitely get the appeal, and of course, I enjoy going to a game every now and then.

Well, actually, let me rephrase that. I love being around the culture that surrounds college football season in America. I thoroughly enjoy the environment that builds up around game days—like tailgating for example.

That being said, let me give you a list of my top 5 football season essentials to make the best tailgate ever. As always, you can find all of these at Party Place in store or online.

All of these products will fit any tailgate for any team you support, even if it is a rival of my favorite team (spoiler alert: As an alumna of the University of Oklahoma, I have to tell you the Sooners are my favorite).

  1. Football Flag Picks

Starting off strong with these cute little guys! Put them in cupcakes, a full cake, sliders, and anything else your heart desires.

You’ll see me drinking a mimosa out of one of these at morning games guaranteed.

Put this up around your tailgating tables, tents, and chairs. I love a good pennant flag, and this does not disappoint.

Take your tailgate setup to the next level with this incredible drink cooler.

Get ready to watch the game with the cutest snack boxes around.

That ends this round up of the 2023 Football Season essentials for tailgating, parties, and football galore. Shop at Party Place to get all these and more.

Mulled Wine and Cold Nights

It is definitely getting colder, which definitely signifies the holidays are coming quite soon! With Thanksgiving and then Christmas right on our tails, there is one thing we have to immediately.

Make. Mulled. Wine.

Duh!!!

The weather is chilly in the day and so it is only bound to be bone-chilling cold in the night! So, what better way to warm up than with a mulled wine.

If you are not too into the idea of mulled wine, you can easily do this party with a hot apple cider or even hot chocolate. Truly is up to you, but I am a mulled wine fan, so that will be the example for now.

This can easily be a cute little party moment if you want it to be because of how festive the drink is and well, you make your own rules and do what you want! If you want everyone to dress up according to a theme, then by all means have them do it! If you would rather this be anything else, then again, do what you please!

I am merely suggesting seeds of thought so that you can grow an even better idea!

However, I think a mulled wine tasting would be an amazing little party for sure.

Everyone can bring their own mulled wine creation (Pinterest has TONS of recipes, so do food magazines, and all outlets of social media!)

This is probably best suited for a smaller group of people—under 8 or 10—because you know… you might start feeling the mulled wine more than you would like, ha! However, if that is your vibe, then definitely… more the merrier.

Regardless of how you want this mulled wine night to go, it is sure to be a fun time.

Get your wine pairings ready and get brewing, this is sure to be a night you won’t forget.

Things like cheese, meats, and breads will be your bestie for these pairings. Make sure to check out suggestions online for it.

As for the dining ware, come on down to Party Place and get some fancy looking plastic wine glasses, snacking plates, and so much more!

A Bewitching Tea Party

I know I have mentioned it over a dozen times that I adore Halloween. It is definitely one of my favorite holidays, right up there with Christmas!

Some people will scoff at me for saying I love Halloween, however, I find this is a result of them not realizing just how much fun you can make Halloween!

It does not have to be about the scary ghouls, haunted houses, and spooky encounters. Well, it is, but they do not have to be disturbing or frightening!

Put a spin on it where it is much more enjoyable and cute. It is all about taking the supernatural world and bringing it into ours in a way that is fun and just for kicks! No need to scare off your neighbors! Comes as you aren’t and have tons of fun doing so for one night of the year.

So… I present a Bewitching Tea Party meant not only for witches but also friendly ghosts, goblins, and vampires! Honestly, you can show up as whatever you want, and it will fit the fun and friendly theme.

For a Bewitching Tea Party, the two most important components are color palettes and food.

Think about muted greens, deep and light purples, as well as the obvious… black.

How witchy! Yet, it won’t look cliché with these muted tones, which gives a much more sophisticated feel.

The other thing to consider with colors too is definitely pattern. I think these are good additives to the Halloween party scene because you can mix and match some quirky patterns to really get that classic Halloween look.

Okay, now we have to talk food. The easy thing about a tea party is that it is all finger foods. There is no reason to do a full five course meal when you’re having a posh tea party.

Go for these fun little macarons and mummy scones, as well as finger sandwiches. How adorable! Creative Kitchen is a great source of all sorts of these pastries and finger foods, so check them out!

Finally, we can’t forget one very important detail for a Bewitching Tea Party. You HAVE to add these tiny cauldrons so the guests can get the full effect. Also, consider putting your table menu in a cute little spell book. You can find printable menus on Etsy or even Pinterest.

Well, that’s all I have! Personally I will be attempting to do a party just like this while I live in London. I have to bring Halloween to the Brits, duh!

Happy Pumpkin Day!

I love autumn so much! It is definitely the best season ever for so many reasons.

  1. The weather is not blazing hot, and my outfits get ten times cuter because I am not dying from a heat stroke.
  2. Especially during October, it is the beginning of the holiday season. Hello… what is not to love about that?
  3. Halloween!! It is one of my favorite holidays, and I just can’t deny putting it in my list of reasons to love fall.
  4. Lastly, the flavors! Pumpkin. Everything. I couldn’t imagine anything better. That’s all.

Speaking of pumpkin, the best way to kick off the autumn season in my very (not) unbiased opinion, is with a pumpkin day party!

Though it may not be an actual holiday, you can still declare any day you want to be a holiday dedicated to pumpkin anything. The world is what you make it, so if you want to have a pumpkin day, then do it!

A pumpkin day party is easy to do because the limits are well… limitless.

Here are some ideas for a pumpkin day party:

  1. Pumpkin painting or decorating!

This a great one for kiddos and adults alike. You can get lots of supplies to make some fantastic pumpkins. Bring out your inner artist.

  • Pumpkin flavored everything.

Throw a party that only contains pumpkin flavored items! You could have pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cakes, and anything else your heart desires. I love pumpkin-flavored anything, so this is the party I would do for sure.

  • Pumpkin patch outing

I remember as a kid loving the pumpkin patches, and I know I would love to go back to one. So, I propose to do a fun little pumpkin patch trip for a party idea. That way, everyone can get their own pumpkin and have a great time. Hey, might even get some cute Instagram pics!

So, get your pumpkin day on and celebrate fall!

Back to School Bash

people might be happy to return to school whereas others will be devastated to sit back in the classroom once again (even college students included!). Anyhow, no matter how you feel about school starting, it is the inevitable. I personally think it is a time for new beginnings! Some might disagree with me, but I have different feelings. I always liked to go buy a few new school supplies and decide the vibe for the year. When I was a kid I swear I was going through a different aesthetic to match my personality every year, but I bet everyone felt that way, haha!

Anyhow, a back to school bash would have been such a fun way to kind of “solidify” the aesthetic of the year for me. So, I propose a fun little school supply gathering and decorating party for those starting elementary, middle, or high school! Honestly, you can switch it up a little in terms of supplies and go for something a little more college for those university aged students.

So, my plan is this! Gather up some fun school supplies… pencils, pens, erasers, and other things as such, and make small goodie bags for the party attendees. However! This isn’t any ordinary school goodie bag. You can buy clear plastic pencil cases or the fabric ones that have the clear middle insert. Either way, you will want something you can decorate with stickers and such.

Finally, you can either have people provide their own notebooks to decorate or you can go find some at the dollar store! As long as the cover is pretty plain (get whatever colors you like), you’ll be in perfect shape to do some fun decorating.

Now for the fun part! Feel free to buy any sort of decorations for your bags and notebooks. You can buy what I suggest, or you can go for something different. The goal is to let every party attendee create a super unique set of school supplies that shows their spunk and style.

Things like stickers, washi tape, markers, and even some double-sided tape and paper would be good. Let their imaginations run wild and go for it!

This is a pretty simple party with just a tad of prep work really placed into the buying of materials.

The decorations are simple. Just come on down to Party Place and get some great little supplies.
